These mughal earrings feature a multitude of seed pearls, which had holes hand drilled through the centers of them with which they were strung on the many posts that hold the pearls to the earrings. The earrings have articulated segments, which allows them to move more freely when the earrings are being worn.

The earrings are elongated rectangular shapes with pointed ends. On either end of the pointed ends are inlaid oval cabochon cut paste stones, which are bright red and bright green hues. The gold plating is wearing through in some places, revealing the base metal beneath. On of the screw-back backings is broken and will need to be reduced in order to be worn properly.

The price of the item has been reduced to reflect this. This listing is for the item only. The Art Deco era is famous for being the "Gatsby" or "Roaring Twenties" era.

A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. Jewelry from this period was most often crafted between 1920 and 1940. Art Deco jewelry sometimes featured white gold or platinum, geometric designs, European cut diamonds, filigree, and calibre cut stones that are specifically cut to fit the design of the piece.

During the Art Deco period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand. Mughal jewelry emerged in India during the Mughal dynasty, beginning in the 16th century.

Jewelry was an important symbol indicating a persons status in society. The elite wore highly ornate and massively jeweled pieces. As the Mughal empire conquered the majority of India, the Mughal style spread to many other regions, being incorporated into many Indian cultures. Pieces usually display intricate designs, massive amounts of gemstones, and elaborate enameling.

Seed pearls occur naturally and are used most often as a decorative border, as tiny accents in small patterns, or in larger clusters woven together to make up an entire piece of jewelry. They are normally less than 2 mm in diameter.

They were imported from India and China and carried a hefty price tag due to this. Seed Pearl jewelry was used often for special occasions such as weddings, Mary Todd Lincoln received a seed pearl parure for Lincoln's inauguration. French jeweler Georges Frédéric Strass created paste as an alternative to diamonds during the Georgian era.

Leaded glass was cut and polished with a metallic powder until it shimmered brightly like a diamond in the light. These white diamante or strass stones were wildly popular with the glamorous Parisians, and eventually paste stones were colored to mimic other precious gemstones.
